Welcome To Vinyl Junkie! As im sure most of you noticed, things look really different around here right now. My site was hacked into a couple times recently causing a lot of downtime. This just made it very clear that i needed to upgrade the site and do some updates and stuff since the software i was using for the shopping cart hadnt been updated in about 4 or 5 years. So i installed the latest version, which should hopefully run with less bugs, and more features! But meanwhile, i have to finish getting it back to the way it was (with the images and all that), as well as setting up some of the features. You can still browse and make orders, and see the full catalog, so dont less the mess keep you from placing an order. Things should be business as usual, and within a couple days i should have this all taken care of, and the site will look and act a lot better! Thanks for your patience.

VINYL JUNKIE ACCEPTS CREDIT CARDS!
I can now accept credit cards for orders placed over the internet. Im still working on integrating that aspect into the site, and making it secure enough for people to enter it in during the checkout. However, you can make an order like normal, and choose the check/money order/other option for payment. Once the order is put through you can call Vinyl Junkie at 832-367-4712 during normal business hours from 1-8 CST monday through saturday, and i can process your credit card payment over the phone and ship your package. Just another option! 11/9/10
ATTN: EVERYONE. I DO NOT BOOK OR SET UP SHOWS. Yes vinyl junkie does have shows in the store. But i basically just allow shows that are already booked to happen at my store. I dont book them and i am not a promoter. If you are a band/agency looking to play in Houston, you will need to get in touch with a local show promoter. They can book a show for you and contact me about having the show here if they would like. I just dont have the time to coordinate with bands, find locals, handle the door, and properly promote and flyer your show, so i would not be doing the touring bands justice and therefore i just dont do any of it, and instead leave that to the people who know what they are doing. Please do not call or email me to ask if your band can have a show here, as i cannot help you. You will need to get in touch with a booking agency, or local promoter here in Houston. 11/6/10
VINYL JUNKIE RECORDS IS FINALLY OPEN
OK so this is a few days late, but things have been pretty hectic lately. At 4202 E Canal St. in Houston Texas stands the physical version of the mailorder ive done for a number of years. If you live in Houston, or are ever passing through on tour, or on vacation, come on down and check it out and say hello. Vinyl Junkie is open Monday through Saturday from 1-8 every day except wednesday when it's 1-6. Here are some directions to the store.
From I-10, take the Waco St. Exit. Go South about 2 miles to Canal St. Turn Left, and about 6 blocks down is Vinyl Junkie. It will be on your right.
From 59N, take the polk st. exit. Follow the frontage road (chartres) to Texas St., turn right. Stay to the left and take the curve left and it will turn into Harrisburg. Go about a mile and a half and turn left on Estelle St. 3 blocks up is Canal St. and Vinyl Junkie is on the corner of Estelle and Canal.
From 59S, take I-10 East and follow the directions above from I-10.
From I-45S, take I-10 East and follow the directions above from I-10
From I-45N, take the Scott St. Exit and go north (the exit loops around, so it will be a left turn), follow Scott north for about 2 miles (it turns into York St.) until you hit Canal St. Turn right and go about 6 blocks to Vinyl Junkie.
Shows at Vinyl Junkie have gone good. People have been coming to check it out and buying stuff. There are couches and stuff if you wanna hang out and listen to music and do your art, or whatever. There are a lot of zines there to chill and read. Make yourself at home and hang out. Keep in mind I have a LOT of turnover. Between the store and online, i sell a lot of records, and i also buy a lot of records. So there probably wont be much stock just sitting around for months and years. Make sure you come down and check it out frequently to see whats new. I add new items pretty much daily.

THE ORDERING FAQ OF SORTS
Being that i am human, and do make mistakes, please make sure you bring up any issues or mistakes to me directly. Please use common courtesy when emailing any inquiries. If you email me a simple inquiry, and make me aware of the problem i will apologize and respond accordingly and nicely and take care of the situation. If you dont bother to simply ask about something and your first email is assuming i made the mistake on purpose and is a scathing sarcastic rant about how im "obviously" ripping you off and throwing threats and demands, more than likely you wont recieve a friendly response.
Please do not email me to ask what color a certain record is on. All new distro items are sold by the record, and are not separated by color/pressing/etc. No color or version is or will ever be guaranteed to any person. I get a lot of different colors and pressings in from orders and restocks, some exclusive colors, some tour pressings, etc. I dont open every record to see what color they are, so most times i don't even know myself which colors or versions i have. When someone orders a record, i grab one off the shelf and package it up. Any rarities are randomly packaged, and i dont even know who gets what color. The only records i specify and guarantee a certain color are the used records of which im selling a specific record by itself. That way, people buy the new records because they want the music, and no one is mad or bummed if they just get the normal version, but the occasional kid gets surprised and stoked when he realizes he got the limited version.
Vinyl Junkie sells both new AND used records. An asterisk is used to denote any previously played records. All the used records are also in their own separate categories. (though the search function brings up both new and used) If there is a * in front of the title, it means the record is used. anything sorted by size or letter, and does NOT have an * is brand new.
90% of the new distro items i sell are not shrinkwrapped, but they are still new as sold just as straight from the label/band directly.
The website is tied into the inventory database. If you can see it on the website you can safely assume that i have the item in stock. There is no need to email me and check if your order is in stock. If an item sells out its immediately removed from the website and can no longer be seen by the customer.
Many people come to this site often, almost daily, to see what new stuff comes in. If you only click on the "whats new" button you might be missing out on a lot. The new arrivals list only has the brand new additions to the store, records ive never had listed before. So if you only buy new records and are just looking for new releases, then its just fine. If you buy mostly used stuff and come looking to see what used or rare stuff i put up and only check the whats new list, you are missing out on 90% of the stuff i list. Most all the records i put up on the site i have listed and sold at some point in the last few years. If i get another copy in, its technically a "restock", and wont show up in the new items list. At this point 9 out of 10 records i list on a daily basis ive already had in the past and will not show up in the new arrivals.
Shipping can take up to a week or two on occasion, other times things get shipped the same day. Generally its done in a week or less, but since its just me (and sometimes my wife helping), if i am out of town, or busy it can get a little backed up, but should never take more than 2 weeks. Please wait at least a couple weeks before emailing to inquire about your package.
You can check the status of your package at any time by logging into your account on the website. If the status is pending it means im waiting for your payment. If the status is processing it means i got the payment but havent shipped the package yet. If it says shipped, it means i have shipped the package. The status is changed as soon as i ship. You will recieve an email from the website each time the status is changed. (meaning you will get email confirmation when the order ships) If you want to know if your order has shipped you can answer your own question in just a few seconds by logging in.
Any domestic USA order that paid through paypal will get an email through paypal as well to let them know it was shipped, as well as having the tracking number attached to their paypal payment that can be checked at any time.
All orders are shipped using the united states postal service. If you would like, or need a different shipping method please contact me before placing your order.
If you run a label, or are in a band and want your releases carried in the store, please use the contact us link on the left side of the page to get in touch, and i will get back to you with details.
Vinyl Junkie buys a lot of old collections. If you have a collection, or chunk of records you would like to sell, please use the contact us link on the left side of the page to get in touch and let me know. I pay more than record stores. Just send me a list of your records and at least a ballpark figure of what you want for them, and ill look it over and get back to you. If you know someone who is moving or getting out of hardcore or whatever and wants to get rid of their records, pss on the word to them that i will buy them!
If you want to use Vinyl Junkie for promotion, im all for it. If you have any stickers, posters, postcards, promos cds/vinyl, one sheets, buttons, etc. You can send them in and i will stuff them in orders going all over the world. Its free advertisement for you, and helps me cause kids love ordering from places that add free stuff in the packages. Even if i dont work directly with your band/label, i would still love to help you promote your DIY stuff. Just use the contact link on the left side to get in touch and ill get you the address!
